Week 13

Hello and welcome to Week 13.  This week's activities were fun -- especially Wordle.  I had played around a bit with LibraryThing already so was somewhat familiar with it.

I'm pretty sure that everyone on the University Library 23 Things development team felt that she had bitten off more than she could chew at the beginning.  However, now that it is almost over, I realize that it has been a great experience and a wonderful chance to work with some completely new library people.  I have loved every minute of it and feel like I've made some great new friends as a result.

Thanks ladies, for making this such a positive experience!!

Week 11

Well, here it is -- Week 11.  It is so hard to believe that after all that work, the program is just about over.  I hope everyone learned something new.  I know I did.
This week's lesson was prepared by me.  Being a complete newbie to this, it was a real learning experience for me.  I had the lesson fully completed and understandable when all the publicity came out regarding Yahoo no longer supporting Delicious.  In my opinion, it was by far the easiest to understand and use.  But, I plugged away and found another bookmarking tool that, I thought was comparable to delicious -- diggo.  I hope you like it as much.

Week 6 -- Already

Week 6 - YouTube and Podcasts
I am the University Library 23 Things team member who created the assignments for this week.
It was fun to work with YouTube.  Most people are familiar with YouTube so I am not surprised that I haven't received any questions about the assignment.  I had fun finding 'library related' videos.  In fact, I ended up staying up until 3:30 in the morning searching for, watching, and picking the ones I thought everyone would most enjoy.  You know what they say, "Time flys when you are having fun!"
Podcasts were a little more challanging, being that we aren't able to install applications on our work stations ourselves.  I, myself, probably wouldn't listen to podcasts regularly.
I hope everyone enjoyed this week.

Week 5 - Prezi

I had a lot of fun preparing my new 'Prezi'.  It was pretty easy to work through but I would like to spend more time on it when I actually have more time.  Darryl tells me that his 10-year-old son is using Prezi in school to prepare presentations.

Last week was quiet so I was able to play around with some of the 'things' we have learned in past weeks and did some work on my blog.  I like it now because I have added pics of "My Guy" as a gadget on the side.

Google Docs and Spreadsheets

Google Docs and Spreadsheets was completely new to me.  I can see so many uses for Google Docs, especially at work.  I do so much documentation that I share with others for their opinions and information.  I can see that this would be very useful for that.  It is very easy to use, especially since it is so similar to MS Word that I am familiar with.  And I really like that you can save it as a web page in several different formats.  I am sure that I will be using this in the future.

I think that I would also use Google Spreadsheets, but not as often as Google Docs.  I need to spend more time playing with that.

This was a very good week.  I was introduced to something completely new to me and found it to be easy to use.

Great!
